Environmental responsibility in its core business is a key task within corporate responsibility for Mammut. At the same time, it represents one of the biggest challenges since the production of our outdoor equipment is very complex. Many environmental actions have already been implemented at a business and product level, but there is still a lot to do.
“To us, a Swiss mountaineering company, an intact environment and mountain landscape is of great importance, and not only from a business point of view. We are at home in the Alps and are passionate about the mountains. Mammut lives by and for nature”
Mammut stands for the quality, functionality and safety of its products. Customers can rely on their Mammut equipment in any situation, whether out on the ice or on the rock face. Meanwhile we aim for our products to leave the smallest possible ecological footprint.
Conventional cotton cultivation often has very negative effects on people and nature. NGOs not only criticize the high water consumption in agriculture. They also point out the intensive use of chemicals to control weeds and vermin on the cotton field.
Mammut has always firmly rejected down from unethical animal husbandry. To ensure that the down used in our products comes from operations with ethically responsible animal husbandry practices, Mammut relies on the Responsible Down Standard (RDS) certification for its down procurement.
In our business and daily work, each individual can contribute to greater environmental awareness and sustainability. In some cases, all it takes is raising awareness, in others greater investment is required. Here is an overview the wide range of actions Mammut has already implemented.
