POLYTECH contains a sophisticated waffle structure designed to immediately draw moisture to the outer surface. The human body has several temperature zones that respond differently to sports activities, heat and cold. While some zones cool down quickly (e.g. the arms, thighs, knees and calves), others produce excess heat after a short period of time (e. g. the head and upper body). This means the body has to regulate the various temperature zones individually in order to maintain its normal temperature of 36.5 ° C.

The GORE® WINDSTOPPER® membrane makes this fabric completely windproof and highly breathable, combining the comfort of an insulating, stretchable mid layer with the weather protection of a fabric shell. GORE® WINDSTOPPER® soft shells keep athletes comfortably warm and dry, while allowing the required freedom of movement for top performance in most weather conditions.
SOFtech™ combines the second and third layers of clothing to provide effective protection in a whole range of weather conditions. The wear-resistant materials have excellent stretch and good breathing properties, ensuring an optimal body temperature. Two different types of SOFtech™ fabrics are available: for the protection models, the focus is on protection from wind and weather, while for the comfort models the emphasis is on breathability.

NanoSphere® - naturally self-cleaning
NanoSphere®, the nanotech-based finishing technology allows dirt and water to simply run off the surface of the textiles. This mimics the natural self-cleaning effect of certain plants whose leaves always remain clean, because dirt simply cannot adhere to the finely structured surface, and is easily washed off when it rains.The functionThe natural non-stick and cleaning process, also known as the self-cleaning effect, is transferred to the surface of textiles by means of nano technology. What is a laminate?
A laminate is a bond of a least two different materials. The membrane (a wafer-thin sheet of material) is bonded to the upper fabric, and sometimes the liner, entirely or in specific areas. 2-layer, 3-layer and 2.5-layer laminates are available.
The two bonded outer layers of fabric protect the intermediate waterproof and breathable membrane from damage and ensure high tear resistance. The membrane is bonded to the wear-resistant upper fabric and a strong liner. The result is a very hard-wearing and extremely robust garment. 3-layer jackets do no need any additional lining.
Alpine, Alpine Extreme
Lightweight and comfortable to wear. Take up a minimum of packing space. A protective layer, consisting of a grease-repellent substance and carbon, is applied to the inner side of the membrane. This protective layer eliminates the need for a separate liner.
The integrated mesh liner ensures a pleasant temperature. It prevents direct contact with the inner side of the functional fabric, which can become damp over time as a result of condensation. The membrane is laminated directly onto the inner side of the upper fabric.
As well as GORE-TEX® membranes, Mammut uses its own DRYtech™ laminates for its hard shells. Water resistance and breathability are the key properties of both these materials. Adverse weather conditions are no longer a barrier.
Since 1978, the GORE-TEX® membranes produced by the company Gore® have guaranteed 100% water resistance. Its experience and continuously updated technologies and solutions make Gore® an important partner for Mammut.
The microporous Gore® membranes evacuate perspiration away from the body in the form of vapour. The membrane does not absorb water (hydrophobic). The advantage of GORE-TEX® is that it is breathable even in the initial stages of activity, when the body starts to perspire.

DRYtech™'s breathability is the result of the membrane's hydrophilic properties. The membrane absorbs and locks in perspiration (like a sponge). When it becomes full, the moisture is evacuated away from the body.
