Climate-neutral rope production
Since the summer of 2008, the Mammut Sports Group AG has been offsetting the 280 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year generated by its rope production. Consequently, the ropes are climate-neutral. This immediate measure is intended as a first step towards the implementation of our ecological responsibility. In the long term, our goal is to set up sustainable and environmentally friendly production processes.
Offsetting
The CO2 emissions from Mammut’s rope production are offset through myclimate, an organisation with Swiss roots and a leading international provider of CO2 offsetting measures. Our contribution is helping a whole range of projects, including the new Monte Rose SAC hut in the Wallis Alps. The hut is being rebuilt using the very latest construction and architectural techniques, with the aim of making it as self-sufficient as possible in terms of energy. Power and heat are provided by means of solar and photovoltaic energy and a block heating station. Any surplus energy is stored in batteries to guarantee an uninterrupted supply of power, even on cloudy days.
