About Clint Cook

Began climbing in 1992 in Carbondale, CO. After college and lots of pitches I began guiding in Washington. After a couple of seasons in the rain, I returned to Colorado and found home in Ouray. I finished my IFMGA/UIAGM Guide Certification in 2004 at the age of 27. I have been the Director at San Juan Mountain Guides  since April 2003.                                                                                                            I spend about 130 days a year on ice from Colorado to Canmore to Alaska. Summers find me in the Alps  and Dolomites. I love classic mixed alpinism, furry dogs, and southern women.      I have focused on being a jack  of all trades, mainly because of my early desire to finish my guide's training. I have been gaining a loyal set of clientele who share the same taste for high adventure in unique and challenging settings. In 2007, I guided 75 ice days around Ouray, another 30 in Canada (Polar Circus, Murchison, Weeping Wall, Sorcerer), made three trips to the Alaska Range (11,300 and Ham n' Eggs), 3 trips up the Teakettle, 3 up the Snake Couloir, 2 Traverses of the Mont Blanc, 3 summits of the Matterhorn,  a bunch of sweet Dolomite towers, the Triglav-Prisojnek-Razor Massif in the Julian Alps, Epineprhine and other Red Rocks classics to round it out.                                                                                                  I have a very diverse schedule. Mammut's versatile clothing, packs, and gear make the equipment decisions easy. All I need in Ouray and the Rockies is a Laser, Champs, and an Ice 45. For the Alps: Courmayeurs, Flight 35, Sandstone, Zenith. It makes packing easy. Thanks Guys!
