When did you start climbing?   When I was quite young, about ten years old. My brother started climbing and I wanted to do everything he did.

Mammut is…    Mammut is part of my life because I make my living from climbing. Mammut allows me to turn my dreams into reality. The equipment is simply top class and I have everything I need. A great big thank you!

How looks a perfect day in the mountains?    To waken up to perfect weather and feel that you're in great shape today. To find yourself in a dream setting and to tackle a route.

Life philosophy / motto:    Be happy! Do what you really want to do, make your dreams come true, take each day as it comes and enjoy lots and lots of travel…

Favorite product:    The down jackets, without them I would have frozen a long time ago! It's just great to have a quick sleep on the soft warm jacket before attacking a project

Bed or Biwak?    I love them both! I'm an uncomplicated climber. I sleep anywhere and on anything, that's part of my life.

Up or down?    I'm a climber, so of course I like to go up! Abseiling is generally a laborious exercise after a multi-pitch tour.

Cold or warm?    I like to go up into the mountains a bit, but I don't like it when it gets really cold. I am a born climber, climbing a cliff bare chested is the ultimate for me, i.e. WARM!

Campfire or party?    Both. I love going out into nature and living with nothing. On the other hand, I train a lot you simply need a few good parties in the year.

Rock or Plastic?    Plastic? Only for training and competitions. Rock is real climbing, there's no comparison with a plastic hold!

Muesli or Steak?  I'm not a cow, that's for sure. Vegetables, fruit and muesli, my stomach simply doesn't like all these healthy things. I'm born for MacDonald's, I love eating all that unhealthy stuff. Long live good steaks!

Freedom or safety?     "hmm. Good question...I should really answer safety comes above everything else. But if I'm honest, I've risked my life countless times in the past, so it's hard to answer that...I think that you simply need to be responsible for your own actions and not to defy death. But when you are in an extreme situation, this boundary often disappears and you suddenly find yourself facing a great dilemma. You then often ask yourself what exactly have I lost here. At times like these we feel the life pulse in our veins and if it turns out all right, we feel infinitely happy!
This is what we look for, so I like them both, freedom and safety..."

Friend or Bolt?    Bolt, we're not Americans! :-)

Single rope or double rope?   I don't mind. Climbing has so many facets: bouldering, sport climbing, alpine. I don't mind, I want to do everything in climbing

Beer or coffee?    Both of course. That's part of life. Coffee provides motivation for training and beer provides motivation for…everything!
