Giovanni Quirici - Pro Team

Mammut Pro Team athlete Giovanni Quirici in fatal accident

With enormous sorrow we learned on 12 August 2011 that on that same Friday the Mammut Pro Team athlete Giovanni Quirici suffered a fatal accident after a violent fall into his rope. This took place on the North Face of the Eiger on the “Le Chant Du Cygne” route. We would like to extend our deepest condolences to all his friends and family.

Giovanni Quirici was a wonderful person and important Pro Team athlete for Mammut. His friendly ways and humorous lifestyle along with his continuously impressive ascents will leave a permanent mark on all of us. Giovanni last brought attention to himself with his free ascent of “Yeah Man” (8b+) in the Gastlosen chain. Among his many accomplishments are also top ascents such as “Tough Enough” in Madagascar or the first free ascent of the “Timofeev” route, which took place during the Mammut team trip to Kyrgyzstan.

He will be sorely missed!
