Mammut Taranaki: A backpack for 150 peaks
On the occasion of the company's anniversary on 11 and 12 August, the Mammut Peaks Collection was worn on 150 peaks. That a backpack is part of this overall collection is obvious. The Mammut Taranaki is a lightweight mountaineer backpack fully equipped for alpine use.
Just like the eponymous mountain in New Zealand differs from other mountains due to its perfect shape, the Mammut Taranaki immediately catches the viewer's eye due to the aesthetic design of the Mammut Peaks Collection. Weighing in at 1,260 grams and a volume of 30 litres, the narrow-cut backpack and body-hugging fit provide for great freedom of movement when climbing or during alpine tours. In addition to skis and ice tools, the Taranaki also offers space for a climbing rope. The lateral compression straps can also be used to secure equipment to the front of the backpack.
A company history of 150 years also means 150 years of change, adaptation and development. Mammut’s Peaks Collection provides a very vivid and aesthetic display of this interplay of traditional values and fashionable design. With their asymmetric patterns and bold line effect, the technical products are creating a completely new and unique look for mountain sports. This is particularly apparent in a rope team of several Peaks Collection wearers, when the individual colours and shapes blend together and interact, similar to the structure of a rope. The Peaks Collection is the first line of clothing line to emphasise the cohesion of the rope team.
