About Pete Kamitsis

boulder problems including the first ascent of Ground Up a 25-foot V9 prow without top rope rehearsal.  Peter climbs and trains like a fiend nearly every other day along with a routine of running, skiing, organic gardening and learning from his children.

Peter lives in Burlington, Vermont with his wife Jovial and two sons Bodhi and Rowan where he finds work as a route setter, climbing instructor and Guide through the Petra Cliffs Climbing Center. With over a decade of experience, Peter is a master course setter, having set routes for both bouldering and lead climbing competitions; effectively entertaining and stumping some of the best climbers in the country. Kametsis recalls one highlight in his route setting, “Chris [Sharma] flashed the first two finals problems and then had to use all of his allotted 5 minutes, becoming the only climber to complete the third problem in front of the roaring crescendo of the crowd, just seconds before his time expired. It was completely rad.”

“Climbing holds metaphors for so many things in our world.  The way that it offers such vivid and uniquely rich experiences that are so honest and real makes climbing of the utmost value in my life.” Says Peter, “Climbing really gives me so much on a daily basis in life that I am just super thankful for the support of my family and that of my friends at Mammut for helping make it a continued reality.”
